| Two Bicycle Bills in State Legislature |
Mountain Bike Safety Act
The Mountain Bike Safety Act (SB 36), sponsored by state Senator Greg Brophy (R), is currently scheduled for a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee early next week. The bill will help develop mountain biking areas and events by defining the inherent risks of mountain biking and reducing liability of landowners that allow mountain biking on their land. Please check our website to find out if your state senator is on this committee and contact him or her to ask for their support of the bill.
State Representative Andy Kerr (D) is sponsoring the Open Roads Act (HB 1092), currently in the House Transportation Committee. The act is scheduled for a vote next week. The goal of the bill is to provide Colorado citizens and visitors with the ability to travel to jobs, schools, stores and attractions by bicycle without restriction from using public streets. Please check our legislative priorities page on our website to get more information about this bill and then contact your representative to urge him or her to support this bill. |
