The Ark Valley Velo is a community based club and our mission statement is a four tiered commitment with a charitable function.
Our first commitment is to provide general education in all areas of cycling. We will do this by developing a tool lending library and have classes on general mechanics. We will also provide education for young riders by having leaded youth group rides. The members will promote safe and responsible cycling for the community while encouraging the use of bicycles as transportation and commuting.
Our Second commitment is to build and maintain local ,residential ,community ,and single track trails throughout Chaffee County. We will be supportive and encouraging of all other groups that use these same routes. We plan on making all of the trails accessible by creating detailed trail maps and signs. The club will be active in lobbing for bicycling-related legislation within the local community.
Our third commitment is to promote special events and racing in the valley. We will support local racers of all ages, and give them the ability to ride and train in our weekly group rides.
Our fourth and finale commitment is to increase business growth in the community. We will do this by creating detailed trail maps and signs that make it easier to navigate the area. We will sponsor annual bicycling events that will bring more people into the Upper Arkansas River Valley.
Ark Valley Velo will also have a charitable function in the community. We will provide equipment and bicycles to those without access. This will help educate the public on the economic, health, recreational and commuting, advantages of bicycles and its positive effects on the environment and our livelihood.
